MHS rally falls one point short
imageAn athletic Northumberland varsity basketball team bolted to an 18-point first half lead against Middlesex in the John S. Clements Memorial Gym at MHS in Saluda Monday night and appeared ready to make the game a blowout. “We took a punch there at first,” said Middlesex coach Jon Hatch.

Charger JVs rally from 11-point deficit to edge Northumberland 33-32
imageTrailing 21-10 at the half, it looked as if the Middlesex High School boys junior varsity basketball team was about to be blown out by visiting Northumberland Monday night. With 5 seconds remaining, Marshall calmly swished both ends of the one-and-one free throws to give the Chargers the 33-32 win.


Charger grapplers host Essex & Nandua Thursday
The MHS wrestling team finished third out of eight teams at the Caroline Invitational on December 5, improving greatly from three losses at Peninsula Catholic in quad-meet on December 3 in Newport News.


Charger cagers’ home opener is Friday
image“Fast, small and talented” is the best way to describe this year’s Middlesex High School boys varsity basketball team. The Chargers of first-year MHS coach Jon Hatch opened their season on December 3 at Appomattox Governor’s School and will play Colonial Beach in their home opener this Friday in Saluda.
