Deltas sweep Pirates; to host Cannons Saturday
imageThe Deltaville Deltas continued their best start in five years of Southern Virginia Baseball League play last weekend, defeating the Peninsula Pirates 5-4 and 2-0 in a pair of down-to-the-wire games. With the wins, the Deltas (7-1 overall, 6-1 league) remain one game back of the undefeated York Cannons (7-0) in the league standings.

Middlesex to host district Little League baseball tournament
The Little League District 15 all-star games will start this week. All tournaments are double-elimination. Middlesex will host the Minor League Baseball Tournament (9-10 year olds) starting Friday, June 24, at the Middlesex Sports Complex in Locust Hill. Four games will be played on two fields at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively.


Over 100 runners/walkers expected in Deltaville 5K
imageHaving a road race through Deltaville becomes a reality on Saturday, July 2, at 8 a.m. when over 100 runners and walkers are expected to participate in the first annual Deltaville 5K. Runners pounding the streets of Deltaville on the 5-kilometer (3.1 miles) course will be a new and exciting event complementing Deltaville’s Heritage Day festivities.


Fishing Report
imageFlounder fishermen continue to struggle to get a limit of fish. Fishing at the Cell/Buoy #42 area has been productive, but some days are slower than others. There have been reports of good flounder activity in the Rappahannock, especially in the area just east of the Norris Bridge on the north side of the river.
