K. Walsh hurls one-hit shutout for MHS JVs
imageKevin Walsh was the winning pitcher. He pitched a complete game 5-inning one-hitter with 12 strikeouts. “We came out and played a great game,” said MHS coach Jonathan Norris. “I was very happy with the way we played, especially since it was the first time we had gotten to see live pitching in a couple of weeks.”

MHS booters down Pointers, Cavs
imageThe Middlesex High varsity soccer team registered another Tidewater District win on Monday by defeating a strong West Point team 1-0. The Chargers are now season 4-5-1 on the season.


Boy Scouts learn about firearm safety
imageScouts and parents of Boy Scout Troop 341 participated in the National Rifle Association (NRA) Sports Shooting Camp held by the Middlesex Sportsmen’s Hunt Club at the club shooting range in Hartfield on Saturday.


Crump sparkles at Ferrum
imageFormer Middlesex High standout Travis Crump of Hardyville has been named second team All-USA South Athletic Conference this spring after batting .346 for the Ferrum College Panthers in 2009. Crump, a sophomore, started every game in the outfield and had 20 RBIs, 30 runs, 9 doubles, 2 home runs and 9 stolen bases for the Panthers.
