MHS hangs tough for a half, but falls to K&Q
imageTrailing only 8-7 at the half, the Middlesex High School varsity football team could not keep up the intensity and lost to Tidewater District foe King and Queen 36-7 in the Oyster Bowl last Friday. “At halftime we felt we were in great position to win the game,” said Middlesex coach Josh Franke. “We had the right game plan, but could not put together four quarters of play.

MHS girls in district title match
The Middlesex High varsity volleyball team defeated third-seeded King William in the semifinals on Tuesday to advance to the finals of the Tidewater District Tournament. The Lady Chargers won 25-14, 25-9 and 25-18. The second-seeded Lady Chargers will play at the regular season champion Mathews for the tournament title on Thursday, November 3, at 6 p.m.


Harrow is district runner-up
imageNancy Barnhardt of Mathews pulled away from Leigh Harrow of Middlesex in the second half of the race to win the Tidewater District girls cross-country championship on October 26 at the Eastern State 5000-meter course in Williamsburg. Barnhardt ran a time of 22:01 while Harrow finished second in 22:47. Quinlan Moore of Middlesex finished fifth (23:29).


JVs host Devils Monday
imageThe Middlesex High School junior varsity football team lost two games in recent action, 40-0 on October 20 to King William, and 14-0 to King and Queen on October 24. “We had a lot of penalties but I was proud of the way our kids played,” said MHS coach Stanley Hundley. “In both games, they never gave up.”
