MHS golfers open season with two wins
The Middlesex High School golf team opened its season on August 10 with a tri-match against the Northumberland Indians and Lancaster Red Devils of the Northern Neck District at Piankatank River Golf Club (PRGC) in Hartfield. The Chargers were able to capture two wins in the match with a score of 178—12 strokes lower than last year’s opening match.

David S. Hill, the son of Corrine Hodges Pearson of Newark, Delaware, and the grandson of Lillie Braxton of the Urbanna area, was selected to compete in powerlifting representing Special Olympics Delaware at the 2010 USA National Games held on the campus of the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska, on July 17-24.

Spanish mackerel continue to be the focus of many anglers. When schools of fish are located, the action is steady and the fish are nice, with many over 20 inches. Clark and Drone spoons are the favored baits, and although these fish can be caught any time of day, the late afternoons and early evenings appear to be the most productive.
08.19.2010Football Jamboree is Friday at MHS
In addition to the Chargers, Colonial Beach, Northumberland and Rappahannock will take part in the event. Each team in the field will have three scrimmages—each against a different opponent. Each scrimmage will last about 25 minutes with a break between scrimmages. Admission to the jamboree is $3.
