Middlesex remained in a tie for first place in the Tidewater District Tuesday with a 9-5 varsity baseball win at West Point. Middlesex is 4-1 in the Tidewater District and 6-3 overall. “If we go undefeated the rest of the way, we can pull it (district title) out,” said MHS coach Timmy Blake.

The Middlesex High girls tennis team dominated arch-rival Mathews 6-3 in a match that started on April 22 and finished on April 23 due to rain. Middlesex’s number one player, Jessica Anderson, continued her quest for an undefeated season as she won 6-2, 6-4.
04.30.2009K. Walsh hurls one-hit shutout for MHS JVs
Kevin Walsh was the winning pitcher. He pitched a complete game 5-inning one-hitter with 12 strikeouts. “We came out and played a great game,” said MHS coach Jonathan Norris. “I was very happy with the way we played, especially since it was the first time we had gotten to see live pitching in a couple of weeks.”

The Middlesex High varsity soccer team registered another Tidewater District win on Monday by defeating a strong West Point team 1-0. The Chargers are now season 4-5-1 on the season.
