MHS girls win district opener
The Middlesex High varsity volleyball team opened Tidewater District play Tuesday by defeating West Point in three games 25-19, 25-18 and 25-16. The Lady Chargers (1-0, 7-2) also downed Rappahannock 25-17, 25-21 and 25-11 on September 24.

Franklin downs Middlesex 36-16
imageThe Chargers scored on a safety, touchdown and 2-point conversion in the first three minutes of the game to take a 10-0 lead, but the Broncos then reeled off six straight touchdowns and led 36-10 at the end of the third quarter.


Fishing News: The spot bite is hot, hot
An already good September for large spot is getting better. Catches of large spot, including "yellow bellies" in the lower Rappahannock River, have been made for the past two weeks.


Williams captures Fall Classic
imageSometimes it's better to be lucky than good, at least that’s what David Williams of Avenue, Md., thought Saturday night at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway. Williams held off challenges from Stephen Evans and Anthony Kincaid to take home the 40th Annual Fall Classic victory.
