MHS girls win twice; fall to Mathews 5-3
imageThe Middlesex High softball team held Mathews scoreless through 4 innings on Friday but dropped the district game 5-3. Mathews rallied in the bottom of the fifth inning with 5 runs—a result of 3 ground ball “swinging bunts” that did not reach the pitcher’s mound and loaded the bases.

Chargers blanked twice
“We’re not going to win games if we don’t score runs, no matter who we play,” said Middlesex High baseball coach Tim Blake following two shutout losses in recent action. The Chargers lost 3-0 last Friday at Mathews and 6-0 at West Point on Tuesday in Tidewater District games.

Seahorses improve to 17-4
imageThe Christchurch School baseball team played two games against St. Christopher’s last week. The Seahorses trailed the Saints by one game in the league standings entering the week. CCS won both games against St. Chris and added a victory against Steward School to improve to 17-4 on the season.
