Middlesex girls shine in four-team meet
For one of the first times in Middlesex High School girls cross-country history, the Lady Charger harriers defeated Group AA New Kent in a quad-meet at Rappahannock Community College on Friday, October 10.

With 9:43 left in the first quarter, Middlesex stopped the Blue Devils on downs and forced a punt. The Chargers’ rush got to the punter and blocked the kick. A Mathews player fell on the ball and was tackled in the end zone by Charger linebacker Craig Connely for the two-point safety.

On September 3 at Rappahannock, Middlesex lost the first game 25-15 before taking the next three games 26-24, 25-16 and 25-14. Harrow made a few changes in the second game, and the Lady Chargers came alive.

“We have a good athletic group of young men playing on our football team,” said MHS coach Austin Moon. “When we went back and looked at the tapes of the game the main problem was that we did not tackle well. If we improve on our tackling, I think we will win some games.
