Deltas host defending champions Saturday
Wood bat baseball will return to Deltaville this Saturday, May 19, when the Deltaville Deltas kick off their 2012 campaign against the defending Southern Virginia Baseball League champion Peninsula Pirates. The Deltas are coming off a very successful 17-6 season, and return numerous ballplayers from last summer.

Rutkowski, Cook notch tennis wins
The Middlesex High School tennis team lost 7-2 to West Point on May 9 to complete its season. Grace Rutkowski won her match in three sets, 3-6, 6-3 and 7-5. Tamara Cook also won her match in three sets, 6-4, 4-6 and 7-5.


MHS girls bring up three JVs
King William freshman pitcher Kayla Huffman hurled a perfect 5-inning game in the 14-0 win over Middlesex on May 8. Middlesex played Mathews in a make-up game on May 16. Middlesex is 3-3 in the Tidewater District while Mathews is 4-2.


MHS JVs complete season
The Middlesex High School junior varsity baseball team lost three games in May, falling 12-1 to West Point on May 1; 14-6 to Mathews on May 4; and 4-2 to King William on May 8 to complete its season. Against West Point, Mason Phillips singled for the only Charger hit in the game.
