Payne blanks West Point in district softball opener
The Middlesex High varsity softball team shut out visiting West Point 10-0 to open its Tidewater District season on April 5. MHS starting pitcher Megan Payne struck out 4 and allowed just 3 hits in the 5-inning game. The varsity Lady Chargers (1-0, 4-4) are at King William for a district game on Thursday, April 19, at 5 p.m.

MHS trackmen win tri-meet
imageThe Middlesex High boys track team defeated King William and West Point in a tri-meet on April 4 at West Point. The Chargers scored 72 points, King William was second with 55, and West Point had 35. Middlesex will participate in a tri-meet on Wednesday, April 18, against Northumberland and Essex at Essex High School.

MHS girls finish 2nd in RGH Tournament
imageMathews won the first Rappahannock General Hospital Softball Tournament by defeating Middlesex 14-1 in the championship game Friday night in Saluda. The Lady Chargers ran into a hard-hitting Mathews team but held them in check through the first four innings.
