MHS girls win district opener
The Middlesex varsity volleyball team defeated West Point on Tuesday to win its opening match in the Tidewater District. On September 20, it took Lancaster five games to defeat Middlesex. “We came out strong, full of energy, and playing like a team,” said Middlesex coach Jennifer Harrow. Middlesex took the first game 25-13. But, Lancaster won the next two.

Harrow, Moore, Ellis shine for MHS cross-country
imageLeigh Harrow proved she will be a force in girls cross-country this season as the Middlesex High School sophomore won two races over the past week. Harrow won first place in a dual meet between the Lady Chargers and Mathews on September 14, and also won first place in a quad-meet on September 20.


Christchurch improves to 3-0
imageBlessed Sacrament-Huguenot (BSH) Catholic School from Powhatan came out fighting but the Seahorses won the game 30-12. BSH stopped the Seahorses’ first drive and began driving down the field. Carlos Gray was the first of many CCS players to step up and show the Knights that scoring on the Seahorse defense was not going to be easy.


MHS girls improve to 4-2
“We are not playing ‘our’ game,” said MHS coach Jennifer Harrow.“Energy levels were low for most of the Essex match and when Essex gave up after the first game loss, we should have taken them quickly in the second two games, but we played to their level to the end.”
