‘Wharf to Wharf Swim’ due Sept. 20 in Mathews
Swimmers are being sought for the 3rd Annual Wharf to Wharf Swim on Sunday, September 20, at 1 p.m. at Williams Wharf Landing on Mobjack Bay’s East River in Mathews. The 1,400-meter open water swim crosses the East River to historic, but now defunct, Hicks Wharf, and returns to Williams Wharf.

Mariners capture second straight VBL title
imageThe Middle Peninsula Mariners (19-2, 14-2) defeated the Tappahannock Tides 8-4 Sunday to claim their second straight Virginia Baseball League (VBL) championship. With the playoff wins, Middle Peninsula finished with a best-ever 19-2 season record.


Shores qualifies for all-star swim meet
imageAt the Virginia Swimming Age Group Championship meet at the Newport News Midtown Aquatics Center held July 30-August 2, Taylor Shores of Urbanna qualified for the Virginia Swimming Zone All-Star Swimming Team.


Middlesex teen sets local bowling record
imageHannah Harris, 17 a rising senior at Middlesex High School, had an outstanding bowling series recently in the Monday Junior/Senior Youth League at Village Lanes. Her total for the series was an incredible 780.
