Down 15 at half, MHS JVs rally past Mathews
The Middlesex JV boys basketball team was excited to play at arch-rival Mathews in front of a near capacity crowd last Friday night. Maybe too excited. The JV Chargers stumbled out of the gate and remained flat throughout the first half. They trailed 28-13 at intermission.

Lady Chargers win two district games
imageThe Middlesex Lady Chargers posted Tidewater District wins over King William and King and Queen in recent action. The Lady Chargers defeated visiting King William 49-34 in their first district game of the season on January 5.


MHS opens district play with two wins
The Middlesex High boys basketball team defeated King William and King and Queen to open its Tidewater District season. The Chargers went on the road last Friday and upended King William 67-54 behind Ryheem Lockley’s 27 points.


Lady Charger JVs remain undefeated
With two Tidewater District wins this week, the Middlesex High JV girls basketball team remains undefeated with an 8-0 record. The JV Lady Chargers defeated King William on January 5, and King and Queen 45-17 on Monday. “There is no substitution for speed and size, and we have both,” said MHS JV head coach Michael Lewis Sr., who is starting four 8th-graders and a freshmen.
