MHS football: ‘Winning starts now’ 
imageMiddlesex High School earned its first varsity football win in about 650 days last Friday by rallying past Mathews 27-23 on the Blue Devils’ home field. Two minutes into the second half the game began to turn for the Chargers. Middlesex tailback JD Diggs shook off tackles and sprinted 23 yards to score.

Capt. Fitchett puts client on state record catfish
image“It was more exciting for me to put a client on [a record fish] than setting the record,” Capt. Fitchett said. “Setting a [state] record is a guide’s dream.” Department of Natural Resources (DNR) biologists weighed the new record cat at 84.28 pounds, and it measured 52 inches long with a 37-inch girth.


Soucek Soccer Tournament is this weekend
imageOn Friday and Saturday, September 7-8, the Christchurch School soccer program will host the 15th annual Jason Soucek Soccer Tournament. The tournament is held annually in memory of Christchurch graduate and Middlesex County resident Jason Carpenter Soucek (‘92), son of Archie (‘61) and Claudia Soucek of Saluda.


Colts Mites rally past Gloucester Red 27-13
imageThe Middlesex Colts Mites (6-7 year olds) team defeated Gloucester Red 27-13 last Saturday in Gloucester. Isaiah Uriri scored three touchdowns on runs of 38, 28, and 52 yards to lead the young Colts. Kalob Knight also turned in a stellar performance by leading the team in tackles and scoring on two conversions.
