ARGS rallies to end MHS volleyball season
imageThe season ended for the Middlesex High volleyball team with a loss in the Region A, Division 2 Tournament on Monday at the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School. Middlesex won the first 2 games 25-22 and 29-17 before ARGS came back to take the next 3 games, 25-14, 25-15 and 15-13.

Youth basketball signup deadline set for Monday
The Middlesex Youth Basketball League (MYBL) will begin its 37th year in December and is now registering players for the 2012-13 season. The league will consist of the following divisions: Girls, ages 9-14; Senior Boys, ages 12-14; Junior Boys, ages 9-11 and Starters, boys and girls, ages 6-8. This year the MYBL will offer “Beginner Ballers” for boys and girls ages 2-5.


Ellis wins 2nd straight district title; MHS team is 2nd
imageMiddlesex High School sophomore Ridge Ellis won his second straight Tidewater District cross-country championship with a time of 17:46 over the 3.2-mile course at Eastern State in Williamsburg on October 25. The next closest runner to Ellis was Kyle Slaughter of Mathews, who was 50 seconds behind him in 18:36.


Mighty Mites, Mites football teams cruise to wins
imageThis past Saturday in Saluda, the Colts Mighty Mites were rewarded for their season-long efforts by routing the Tri Rivers (West Point) Titans 27-13. Adam Smith led the young Colts with a personal best 3 touchdown runs. Smith scored his touchdowns on a 2-yard run, a 16-yard run, and an electrifying 54-yard kickoff return.
