MHS golf team opens season
imageThe Middlesex High School golf team opened its season on Tuesday, August 16, with a 211-218 loss to the visiting Rappahannock Raiders at Piankatank River Golf Club in Hartfield. Greg Harrow, who is in his ninth year as the Chargers head coach, said his team is young but anticipates the returning members will provide a good foundation for success.

2011 Young Lady Chargers Volleyball has potential
“With a new lineup, it takes a little while to get to know each other on the court and how to play as a unit,” coach Jennifer Harrow said. “They also need to get louder on the court and talk to one another. Once they do, everything else will fall into place.”


Area Fishing Report
imageSpanish mackerel have been generating a lot of excitement and plenty of activity in the middle bay. Anglers fishing out of Fish On Bait and Tackle (804-776-0820) in Deltaville are catching Spanish from Buoy #41A to Wolf Trap Light. There is lots of action on the eastern side of the bay as well. For some reason the fish are late arriving on Windmill Bar, although a few fish have been caught at buoy #2R.


Signup continues for Stingray Point Regatta
The Stingray Point Regatta will be held on Labor Day weekend, September 2-4, at Fishing Bay Yacht Club in Deltaville. Participation is open to the public. Sailing classes include PHRF Spinnaker, PHRF Non Spinnaker, J105 and Cruising. The Regatta will be sailed over three days and there will be daily awards Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
