MHS girls win district opener
The Middlesex High varsity volleyball team defeated West Point in its Tidewater District opener Tuesday night. More details will be in next week’s Sentinel. The Lady Chargers also lost a pair of non-district matches recently. Middlesex lost to visiting Rappahannock 25-16, 26-24 and 25-20 on September 20.

imageThe water temperature is getting a bit cooler, and the spot bite is improving. Hopefully, the spot will stay around well into October. There are still an abundance of very small spot, but there are some nicer ones in the mix, along with grey trout, whiting and small croakers.


Christchurch football loses to Fork Union
Christchurch visited Fork Union Military Academy Friday for a test of their mettle, and came away stronger for the effort. The Blue Devils are a consistent VISFA D1 power and this will most likely prove no different. ESPN and Under Armour formally introduced FUMA quarterback Christian Hackenberg as a 2012 All-America Bowl player in December.


Christchurch School to hold Hall of Fame induction
The Christchurch School Hall of Fame will induct four new members – three for lifetime achievement and one for athletic achievement – on Saturday, September 29 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Peter’s Chapel on the school’s campus during Homecoming/Family Weekend festivities.
