Devils rally past MHS JVs 22-9
The Middlesex High School junior varsity football team lost its season opener 22-9 to Mathews on September 1. MHS coach Stanley Hunley said, “We looked pretty good and the offensive line did a good job of blocking for us. If we had made a couple catches in the game, we could have won it.We did get a little sloppy at the end of the game.”

New-look Chargers open at Mathews Friday
imageThe Middlesex High School football team will open its regular season at 7 p.m. Friday on the road against longtime rival Mathews. The Chargers have a new head coach, Josh Franke, and some strong returning players off last year’s 1-9 team.


MHS girls off to fast start
imageThe Middlesex High volleyball team is off to a 2-0 start after defeating Rappahannock in three games on August 30, and downing Washington & Lee in three games on August 25. The Lady Chargers may have had opening-game jitters against W&L and played timidly in the first game, but won 25-18.


MHS golfers show improvement
The Middlesex High golf team finished third in a tri-match at Northumberland and Rappahannock on August 25 at Quinton Oaks Golf Club in Callao, which both of the Northern Neck teams use as their home course. Northumberland’s 164 took the match. Rappahannock shot 173 and Middlesex had a 183.
