The Christchurch School Fighting Seahorses got the 2011 season started on the right track with a 39-0 victory over the Covenant School Eagles on Friday in Charlottesville. Junior Jordan Wallace (Hampton) took the opening kickoff 85 yards for the first score and Christchurch never looked back.

The Middlesex Colts were defeated by the Williamsburg Gold Hornets on September 3 at James River Elementary School. It was the Colts’ inaugural games in the Peninsula Youth Football and Cheerleading Organization.

The Middlesex High School junior varsity football team lost its season opener 22-9 to Mathews on September 1. MHS coach Stanley Hunley said, “We looked pretty good and the offensive line did a good job of blocking for us. If we had made a couple catches in the game, we could have won it.We did get a little sloppy at the end of the game.”
