Essex nips Chargers for Region A crown
Essex edged Middlesex 50-46 before a packed house Saturday night at Lancaster High School to win the Region A Division 2 boys basketball championship. The Chargers led throughout the first quarter, but once the Trojans took a 12-11 lead early in the second quarter they never trailed again.

Middlesex scored 36 fourth quarter points en route to a 75-61 come-from-behind win over King William in the quarterfinals of the Region A Division 2 Tournament Wednesday night at MHS in Saluda. The third-seeded Chargers will travel to second-seeded Arcadia on the Eastern Shore for a tournament semifinal game at 7 p.m. Friday, February 26.
