Christchurch routs Blue Ridge; improve to 6-0
imageThe Christchurch School Seahorses traveled to conference rival Blue Ridge School on Saturday and came home with their fourth shutout of the season, 36-0. With an ankle injury to leading rusher Jordan Wallace, senior captain Pat Young stepped up in a big way. Young rushed 25 times for 234 yards and three scores as the Seahorses dominated the Barons on their way to an easy victory.

Surry’s air attack dooms Chargers
image“We had a good defensive game plan but didn’t execute it,” said MHS coach Josh Franke. “We wanted to stop the run, which we did pretty well, and we knew they would try to pass on us. We just got caught with our heads in the backfield, and the play fake and their four passing touchdowns can attest to that.


Junior Colts throttle West Point
imageLast Saturday the Middlesex Colts Junior team beat a more experienced West Point team 28-6. The Colts dominated play throughout the game. Middlesex was led by Monte’ Sutton who scored three TDs on runs of 22, 34 and 23 yards. Terry Reed also scored a TD for the Colts on a 19-yard run and added 4 more points on conversions.


MHS girls volleyball splits pair of district matches
The Middlesex High varsity volleyball team split a pair of Tidewater District games last week losing to undefeated Mathews but defeating West Point. “I think we were a little hesitant the first game, not knowing what to expect,” said Middlesex coach Jennifer Harrow. “But the girls quickly found out that they could compete with Mathews.”
