MHS girls in district title match
The Middlesex High varsity volleyball team defeated third-seeded King William in the semifinals on Tuesday to advance to the finals of the Tidewater District Tournament. The Lady Chargers won 25-14, 25-9 and 25-18. The second-seeded Lady Chargers will play at the regular season champion Mathews for the tournament title on Thursday, November 3, at 6 p.m.
11.02.2011Harrow is district runner-up
Nancy Barnhardt of Mathews pulled away from Leigh Harrow of Middlesex in the second half of the race to win the Tidewater District girls cross-country championship on October 26 at the Eastern State 5000-meter course in Williamsburg. Barnhardt ran a time of 22:01 while Harrow finished second in 22:47. Quinlan Moore of Middlesex finished fifth (23:29).
11.02.2011JVs host Devils Monday
The Middlesex High School junior varsity football team lost two games in recent action, 40-0 on October 20 to King William, and 14-0 to King and Queen on October 24. “We had a lot of penalties but I was proud of the way our kids played,” said MHS coach Stanley Hundley. “In both games, they never gave up.”
10.28.2011Chargers host K&Q in Oyster Bowl Friday
The Middlesex High School Chargers football team lost 62-0 to powerful King William last Friday night at King William. The reigning Urbanna Oyster Fesitval Queen and Little Miss Spat will present the winning team with the Oyster Bowl trophy after the game.
