August is one of the slower months for fishing due primarily to the hot days/nights and warmer water temperatures. The fish are sluggish, as are the fishermen. However, August provides us with a large variety of fish to target. In the middle Bay and rivers, we have Spanish mackerel, flounder, bluefish, cobia, puppy drum, speckled trout, gray trout, spot and croaker to name just a few. All of these fish can bring lots of activity, depending upon the tide and time of day.
