Four returnees to lead Lady Chargers Basketball
The 2012-13 Middlesex High School varsity girls basketball team has two seniors and two juniors returning from last year’s Tidewater District Tournament championship team. The Lady Chargers’ first home game is Friday, November 30, against Northumberland. The JV team plays at 6 p.m., and the varsity team plays at 7:30 p.m.

MHS has 26 wrestlers competing
imageThe Middlesex High School wrestling team will kick off its regular season on Thursday, November 29, at Caroline County High School in a tri-meet against Caroline and King William. The Chargers are young but have two wrestlers returning.


Aylett rockfish tournament winners
imageAylett Country Day School’s rockfish tournament had 32 boats in the competition. Eleven fish were weighed, and the prize winners were as follows: 1st place, $3,000, Danny Dunaway, Dunnsville, 29.6 lbs; 2nd place, $750, Dean Irwin, Aylett, 13.5 lbs.; and 3rd place, $250, Scotty Puckett, Mechanicsville, 12.3 lbs.


Competition cheering tryouts set
The Middlesex County Parks and Recreation Department will hold competition cheering squad tryouts on Monday, December 10, and Wednesday, December 12, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the Tom Carter Memorial Gym at Cooks Corner. Tryouts are open to all between the ages of 11 and 18 as of August 31, 2012.
