MHS opens district play with two wins
The Middlesex High boys basketball team defeated King William and King and Queen to open its Tidewater District season. The Chargers went on the road last Friday and upended King William 67-54 behind Ryheem Lockley’s 27 points.
01.11.2012Lady Charger JVs remain undefeated
With two Tidewater District wins this week, the Middlesex High JV girls basketball team remains undefeated with an 8-0 record. The JV Lady Chargers defeated King William on January 5, and King and Queen 45-17 on Monday. “There is no substitution for speed and size, and we have both,” said MHS JV head coach Michael Lewis Sr., who is starting four 8th-graders and a freshmen.
01.11.2012Reedville Derby will focus only on rockfish
Smith Point Sea Rescue (SPSR), sponsor of the annual Reedville Fishing Derby, will hold the 29th Annual Reedville Fishing Tournament on Saturday, May 12. The “Derby,” as it is often referred to, has been completely revamped. After soliciting input from previous Derby participants, both recreational and professional, and in consideration of the economic climate, SPSR realized that it was time to make some changes.

The Middlesex High School boys basketball team turned up the defensive pressure in the second half Tuesday night en route to a 68-55 road win over Rappahannock. “We came out in the second half and really played some good defense,” said MHS coach Brody Jackson. “When we play good defense our offense always seems to come alive.”
