Teen swimmer from Wake captures four medals at AAU Junior Olympics
imageIf past performance is an indicator of the future, Cody Carnes of Wake will continue making his mark on the national swimming scene. Cody won three silver medals and one bronze at the 50th AAU Junior Olympics held in Pearland, Texas (near Houston) on July 28 through August 1.

Speedway races rained out again
After an 1½ hour rain delay and a yeoman’s effort at trying to get the racing surface back into shape last Saturday, officials of Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway and the Ultimate Super Late Model Series had to make the difficult decision to cancel the $20,000-to-win 40th annual Aaron’s USA 100 presented by Commonwealth Motorsports.
