MHS students took a trip to Smith Island to visit the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s residential education facility in Tylerton, MD.

Mr. Porter and Mrs. Ward led the trip of 11 students who spent 3 days and 2 nights canoeing, hiking, boating, fishing, and playing in the mud. Students were required to make their own meals and leave their cell phones behind to learn what “Island Time” was all about.

Tylerton is a town on Smith Island with 59 full-time residents including the two educators from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation that kept them busy learning how they can make a difference to the Bay.

The students left Monday (3/12) morning before dawn and traveled to Crisfield, MD to board the ferry that took them to the island where their adventures occurred.
