Home for the Holidays: Eagle Release

Frances Murphy of the Rappahannock River Valley National Wildlife Refuge discusses how she and her colleagues rescued a large female bald eagle that had been injured. The eagle made a strong recovery and was released back into the wild near Laurel Grove, where the bird was rescued.

Al’s Body Shop Fire

James Pitts Jr., captain of the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department of Urbanna, talks about the fire that destroyed Al's Body Shop in Saluda. Thick black smoke billowed from the building and the Deltaville ladder truck had to be called in to help kill the blaze.

Chesty Puller Run 2008

Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Monroe explains the significance of the annual Chesty Puller Run during the 2008 event. Marines jog from Fort Lee to Chesty Puller's grave at Christchurch cemetery (a 68 mile jaunt) to honor the memory of the most highly decorated marine in the corps' history.

Hallowed Ground: MHS Haunted House

The Middlesex High School band produced a terrifying haunted house for Halloween 2008, called Hallowed Ground. With its ghouls and goblins, the haunted house gained a lot of attention in the county and raised funds for the Middlesex High School band.
