Little League Spring Training 2009
Little League Spring Training is an opportunity to get the community excited about the upcoming Little League season. The training camp was held at the Middlesex County Sports Complex and helped kids sharpen basic skills like batting, catching and throwing.

FD Crockett Restoration at the Maritime Museum
The Deltaville Maritime Museum has taken it upon themselves to preserve an important part of maritime history by restoring the iconic FD Crockett, one of only three large log buyboats still afloat on the Chesapeake Bay. Local author and historian, Larry Chowning, narrates this soundslide, explaining the work that has already been done.

Middlesex Fine Arts Festival 2009
The annual Middlesex Fine Arts Festival was held at the Middlesex High School and featured student artwork from the elementary, middle and high schools. This soundslide is edited to an upbeat music track and shows much of the artwork that was on display.

NAACP 100th Anniversary
The Middlesex Chapter of the NAACP marked a century of civil rights progress with a celebration. Local African American leaders have proposed that civil rights pioneer Irene Morgan be memorialized with a highway marker in Saluda where she was arrested in 1944 for failing to move to the “colored” section at the back of a bus.

Professional Wrestling at Middlesex High
The NWA Fusion professional wrestling event was held at the Middlesex High School gymnasium and benefited the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department. Large men in colorful costumes (and with even more colorful names) punched, kicked, slammed and hurled each other for a noble cause.
