23rd annual Deltaville Heritage Day

The 23rd annual Deltaville Heritage Day celebration on Saturday, July 3 brought scores of people young and old to the lower end of Middlesex County to observe the anniversary of our nation's independence. Art, craft and food vendors lined the street, and folks enjoyed an array of activities including a pet parade, a children's parade, and the signature Heritage Day parade.

Water View Independence Day Celebration

The Upper Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department and Auxiliary celebrated the 25th anniversary of their Independence Day Celebration Parade on Saturday, June 26, at the Water View Firehouse. Rivah Bluegrass: It’s all about the music

On every other Thursday, a garage at Mattaponi, near West Point, becomes the Dew Drop Inn, with more than a dozen bluegrass musicians taking turns at the front of the stage. John Howard Walton said it all started about 11 years ago with a few musicians in his kitchen. They outgrew that and moved to the garage—he eventually had to enlarge that to hold all the music lovers.

Cattle roundup on horseback

Cattle are still rounded up with horses at Louise Harrell’s Corbin Hall Farm in Water View. In this slideshow, Ronnie Russell and David Brincat saddle up and ride out. They carry on a tradition that is not often seen on today's farms. Just press play!
