On April 18 and May 17, three St. Clare Walker (SCW) Middle School students completed a cleanup of Urbanna’s Waterman’s Park.
Brooke Daniel, Jack Ruark and Emilie Smith were recently inducted into SCW’s National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). These students were chosen based on their accomplishments in scholarship, leadership, and service as well as excellence in the areas of citizenship and character. The completion of an individual or group community service project is required of them as participants of the NJHS.
These three students decided to clean up Waterman’s Park because they believed it would benefit the community by providing an enjoyable park to visit, especially in the hot summer months. The clean-up process consisted of several different components. There were overgrown bushes obstructing the walkway, overgrown weeds, debris from the fall and winter months, and worn decorations in need of replacement. The students trimmed bushes, pulled weeds, cleared debris, and replaced old decorations to improve the park.
Waterman’s Park is on Colorado Avenue in Urbanna, and it is open to the public from sunrise to sunset.
