Valdrighi named assistant principal

Chris Valdrighi of Weems has been named assistant principal of New Kent High School for the 2009-2010 school year.

Valdrighi currently serves as the project director for the Summer Jobs for Youth Network, a Jessie Ball duPont Fund grant program through the Workforce Development office of Rappahannock Community College. Prior to that, he served as principal at Middlesex High School and as a school administrator in Essex County.

Valdrighi received a master’s degree in education and administration from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2000 and is currently a candidate in the doctoral program at George Washington University.

New Kent County is the 10th fastest growing community in Virginia and, to accommodate anticipated growth, a new high school opened in 2008 with the capacity to serve 1,400 students.

New Kent High School has some 900 students and competes as a Group AA school in the Bay Rivers District. New Kent has 430 employees in its school division.
