Students visit General Assembly

Chesapeake Bay Governor’s School students took advantage of a recent snow day to make the slushy trek to Richmond to meet with lawmakers and attend a General Assembly session.

From left, Rebecca Walker (Middlesex), teacher Sara Beam, David Ratcliff (Gloucester), Hunter Banks (Middlesex) and Amber Fauber (Mathews) met with Senator Ryan McDougle and Delegate Harvey Morgan to discuss the education portion of the budget and learn about the types of considerations lawmakers must make when dealing with such a complex issue.

Students also attended the legislative session and watched debates on several important environmental bills they have been studying, including storm water pollution management and Virginia proposals to implement the Clean Air Act.
