St. Clare Walker TSA open house, fundraiser night set for May 21
The public is invited to the St. Clare Walker Middle School (SCW) Technology Student Association (TSA) open house on Wednesday, May 21, from 6-8 p.m.
SCW TSA students competed and placed well at the Virginia TSA Technosphere 2014 State Leadership Conference. The team, comprised of 19 students from SCW, brought home eight trophies, including four for first place. TSA competitions and events stress the importance of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) concepts, leadership, and presentation skills.
The SCW TSA (http://scwteched.weebly.com/tsa.html) performance at the state competition has guaranteed advancement to the National TSA Conference, scheduled for June 27-July 2 in Washington, D.C. During this annual conference and premier educational event, over 60 middle school and high school technology based student competitions will be held. Also, students will be able to participate in leadership training sessions, career and education fairs, STEM educational products and services demonstrations, and a national service project. Students will return to the community with experience competing against the best in the nation and having gained expertise and knowledge from peers from across the country. More information is available on the national TSA website at http://www.tsaweb.org.
“Please come join us at St. Clare Walker middle school for our SCW TSA open house night in the Technology Education Classroom,” said faculty team advisor Matthew Short. “Our TSA students will be there to present and discuss their projects that they’re taking to the national competition.
