RCC to host Regional Education Consortium

A series of valuable Professional Development Opportunities (PDOs) will be offered to local educators as part of the Summer 2009 Regional Education Consortium hosted by Rappahannock Community College’s Workforce Development Center and its training coordinator, Harriet Dawson. Twelve school systems in RCC’s service area will sponsor the attendance of any of their employees who wish to take part. The event will run from July 27-30.

At its first appearance in Summer 2008, the Education Consortium drew 287 local educators, who made many appreciative comments about the quality of the instruction. Consortium 2009 promises to outstrip it by far, with over 800 persons already registered for workshops that range from CPR training sessions to computer classes to early childhood education.

In addition, a Leadership Academy for school teams of administrators and teachers will be offered on July 20-21. On August 3-4, a Language Arts Academy and Mathematics Academy will give teachers of these subjects useful information and insights that address the needs of their students.

For a complete list of the Regional Education Consortium offerings, or to register either for the consortium or for the academies, call Dawson at 758-6755, or e-mail her at .
