RCC has new healthcare scholarships

Thanks to a generous $50,000 gift from HealthKeepers Inc. for Anthem HealthKeepers Plus Medicaid Plan members, Rappahannock Community College (RCC) is now able to offer scholarships to students to take advantage of many of the school’s disciplines.

Rappahannock Community College and HealthKeepers Inc. announce a partnership that will fund scholarships for high school juniors, seniors and recent graduates.

The scholarship, known as the RCC Anthem Scholars program, is available for students who have at least “C” grades or better and are interested in the following subject areas: cybersecurity; pre-nursing/practical nursing; emergency medical services; STEM science; STEM health/pre-med/pre-physical therapy/pre-dental; and a transfer degree.

Classes in those subject areas will be available both in class and online.

“We are very enthused to have Anthem as an educational partner,” said Dr. Elizabeth Hinton Crowther, president of Rappahannock Community College. “We feel that these funds will improve prospects and quality of life for students in our service region.”

“Anthem is proud to provide assistance to students interested in learning subjects important to the healthcare field,” said Patrick Sturdivant, president of Anthem’s Virginia Medicaid plan. “By helping these students get started in their studies, we can help ensure critical Virginia healthcare worker needs are met now and in the future.”

Students are encouraged to apply now at the RCC website at
