Pennies for Haiti raises $1,900
Recently the PTO and Builders Club at St. Clare Walker Middle School held a “penny war” called Pennies for Haiti. The school collected pennies in a jar for points. Any silver that was put into the jar was deducted from the point total. The homeroom with the most points won a pizza party and ice cream.
All of the funds went to the Clinton-Bush Foundation for Haiti Relief.
St. Clare Walker raised $1,900. “We all enjoyed the penny war, and we plan on doing another next year,” said a program spokesperson. “Congratulations to Mr. Somerville’s homeroom. They collected the most pennies out of the entire school.
A big thank you to EVB who counted our pennies every day and to Mrs. Booker, our PTO president, who helped collect and total the money every day.”
