Oyster Festival Legacy Program to present a lecture and a concert
The Urbanna Oyster Festival Marine Science Legacy Program will present a lecture and concert series that will be free and open to the public.
On Wednesday, March 26, from 7-8 p.m. in the St. Clare Walker Middle School auditorium, Bill Portlock will lead a lecture and photograph presentation titled “Our Place, Our Bay.” Portlock is the Senior Educator for Bay for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
On Wednesday, April 23, from 7-8 p.m. in the St. Clare Walker Middle School auditorium, “The Northern Neck Chantey Singers” will be in concert. The group is comprised of former watermen keeping alive the work song tradition of African-American menhaden fishermen.
Both presentations are made possible by a license plate grant from the Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fund.
