Lora Glass has been approved by the Middlesex School Board as the new director of Exceptional Education and Federal Programs for Middlesex County Public Schools.

Glass was previously employed by the Chesterfield County School System where she served as the administrator of special education programs in middle schools since 2003, most recently at Elizabeth Davis Middle School.

She earned her masters in education from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1994.  Additionally, she completed the school administration certification program at VCU in 2007 and has been enrolled in a program to gain additional expertise in Autism Spectrum Disorders since January 2011.

“I am so excited to join the Middlesex School System,” said Glass. “It’s a wonderful district, and we have great opportunities to help kids. I’m really looking forward to getting to know the students and parents and my new colleagues.”

Middlesex School Superintendent Dr. James Lane stated, “Mrs. Glass was the unanimous choice of the interview panel and will bring a wealth of knowledge about the best practices for special education programs, and we feel strongly that she will be able to continue the successes realized in special education in recent years.”

Glass began her duties with the Middlesex County Public Schools on February 1, 2012.

Glass replaces Rosalin Ball, who accepted a position with West Point Public Schools beginning February 1. “We would like to thank Mrs. Ball for her service to the students of Middlesex County and we wish her well in all future endeavors,” said Dr. Lane.  “Mrs. Ball brought a focus on consistency, increased achievement, and professionalism to our Special Education Department and her efforts were truly appreciated.”
