Parent Child Development Corporation celebrated Week of the Young Child a few weeks ago.

As part of this celebration, the Middlesex Head Start classroom invited some community partners from the county to come and read with the children.

On Tuesday, Rashard Wright, assistant school superintendent, read to the children.

On Wednesday, Dr. Karen Ransone, pediatrician at Fishing Bay Family Practice in Deltaville, read to the children and donated a book to each child.

Also on Wednesday, Lee Walton, an employee of Three Rivers Health District and a member of the Middlesex School Board, read to the children and learned about the classroom volcano project.

On Thursday, Urbanna librarian  Allison Towles read to the children and  taught them a song.

To finish out the week, former Head Start student Julianna Solomon talked to the children about 911, stop-drop-and-roll, and first aid as part of her Girl Scout project.

Head Start officials thanked all who volunteered.
