Rebecca Walker, daughter of Debbie Holloman and Bob Walker of Deltaville, has been invited to attend the Summer Residential Governor’s School for Mathematics, Science, and Technology at Lynchburg College from July 5-August 1.
The residential program will challenge students to learn about science in a hands-on way, using a variety of means including selected lectures, individual discussions with faculty, laboratory, computer simulations, multimedia, internet research, small-group research projects, and small-group discussions. In their search for knowledge, students will realize the importance of an inquisitive and open mind.
The program will allow students to explore the relationships between themselves and the world of science by providing opportunities to see science in action in the workplace, and by providing opportunities for career counseling in science.
Summer Governor’s School students also build lasting relationships with peers and with adults through a shared commitment to the fun and excitement of learning.
Walker is currently a sophomore attending Middlesex High School and the Chesapeake Bay Governor’s School Academic Year Program at Rappahannock Community College, Glenns Campus.
She also is active in sports and drama during the school year.
