MHS honored with traffic safety award

Middlesex High School, teacher Melvina Robinson, and student Dana Hunter were honored with traffic safety awards at the 2014 Youth of Virginia Speak Out About Traffic Safety (YOVASO) Awards Program on June 24 in Amherst.

The YOVASO Awards Banquet, held at Sweet Briar College, recognized organizations, individuals, and schools from Virginia that had demonstrated exemplary efforts during the 2013-14 academic year to encourage safe driving among teenagers.

Middlesex High School was recognized for its exemplary performance this year in promoting safe teen driving, earning both the “Impaired Driving Prevention” award and the “Speaking Out & Saving Lives” award. YOVASO club sponsor, Melvina Robinson, received the Sponsor of the Year Award for her leadership and dedication to the club and its students. This is the second year Robinson has been honored with the Sponsor of the Year Award.
