The Middlesex High School band had a terrific year ending with an “excellent” rating at the district level in Stafford.

Last week band members celebrated the year’s accomplishments with their annual awards ceremony at the Deltaville Pool. All of the members received a certificate for their participation for the year, and also received pins for their freshman, sophomore, junior or senior year.

The MHS Band Boosters Association awarded three $250 scholarships. The recipients were Christian Hensley, who will be attending Longwood University in the fall, Clayton Hogge and Nathan Damron, both of whom will be attending Rappahannock Community College. Congratulations to these outstanding students.

Also during the awards celebration, the 2013-14 leadership team was selected. It includes drum major Amy Damron, field captain Emily Sheppard, drum captain Nick Morris and color guard captain Monica Croxton.
