Sixteen 4th and 5th grade students earned the right to participate in the 2009 Richmond Times-Dispatch Spelling Bee at Middlesex Elementary School.
This year’s finalists were, front row from left, Meghan Krom, Keanna Harris, Emma Barnhardt (winner), Morgan Charnock and Noah Woolard (runner-up); second row, Destiny Brooks, Ja’Mel Reed, Jacob Beebe, Julianna Solomon, Willow Pedersen and Emily Taylor; and third row, Kelly Wood, Kimani Robinson, Beth Eanes, Gabby Taylor and Lauren Shores.
The division winner, Emma Barnhardt, was awarded a Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary.
