MES PTO to raffle original John Barber pen sketch

The Middlesex Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization (MES PTO) will raffle off an original John Barber pen sketch of a skipjack at Hooper Straight Lighthouse. The sketch is valued at $1,000 and has been framed by Nimcock Gallery of Urbanna.

Tickets will be on sale for $5 and available beginning at the MES PTO’s Creative Expressions evening on Thursday, February 18. The winning ticket will be selected on Thursday, March 18, following that month’s PTO event (winner need not be present to win).

The February 18 evening of Creative Expressions is open to the Middlesex community, and will showcase 10 local artisans, who will share their talents and answer questions from participants. Children will have an opportunity to express their creativity by making some art to take home.

Doors open at 6:45 p.m. and the program begins promptly at 7 p.m.  Attendees are encouraged to arrive early so they will not miss a minute of hearing from the following local talents:  Victoria Rosendahl, children’s author; Judith Woodbury, watercolorist; John Chandler, martial arts; Ben Richardson, woodcarver; Dorothy Pagano, painter; Dixie Doerr, artist; Linda Walker, scrimshaw; LaJean Browning Smith, photographer; Rosalee Brown, wool spinner; and Jason Maloney, Congo drum musician.

For additional information on this event or to purchase raffle tickets, contact Lauren Berry at 804-370-4948 or Lorna Lindsey at 758-3620.
