On May 3 four teams from Middlesex Elementary School (MES) competed in the 29th Annual Great Computer Challenge Competition at Old Dominion University in Norfolk.
Led by MES media specialist and teacher coach Laurie Douglas Frye, 10 students competed against 97 other teams from schools across eastern Virginia in video editing, desktop presentations, desktop publishing, and internet scavenger hunt.
The team of Kaydence Congleton, Jordan Mills, and Elizabeth Bristow was first place overall in the grades 3-5 video editing category.
The team of Jordan Hershberger, Nona Shirvani, and Delaney Ruark was second place overall in the grades 3-5 desktop presentations category.
Mary Castro and Julia Young-Jones competed in the internet scavenger hunt category, and Chyanne Evans and Molly Weston competed in the desktop publishing category “and did a wonderful job as well against some very tough competition,” said Coach Frye.
