MES celebrates Black History Month

During the month of February, the students of Middlesex Elementary School (MES) learned about famous African-Americans. In addition to classroom activities, every morning students read biographical facts about famous African-Americans and their contributions to our society during the morning announcements.

On February 26 and 28, MES was fortunate to have members from the Middlesex community come and share artifacts and information about various famous African-Americans. In the photo, Lou Belcher talks to Mrs. Thomas’ kindergarten class about Althea Gibson and Arthur Ashe, both famous tennis players, as well as other famous athletes.

Belcher was a tennis star himself! MES staff and students appreciated the community support with helping MES celebrate Black History Month.
