Lower Church awards three $1,000 scholarships

Lower United Methodist Church has a tradition of offering financial aid to its student members who have been accepted to an institute of higher learning. The church is pleased to announce it has awarded three scholarships this year, each in the amount of $1,000.
Christian Hensley has been awarded the Laura McIntyre Memorial Scholarship. She will be attending Longwood University and plans to major in music. Her ultimate goal is a career in music education.
The Miles Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Haley Smallwood. She plans to attend Thomas Nelson Community College. After earning her associates degree, she plans to transfer to George Mason University and major in forensic science.
The Piankatank Shores Worship Group Scholarship was awarded to Clayton Hogge. He plans to attend Rappahannock Community College with an ultimate goal of a career in the medical field.
