Jeannie White Duke named MES principal

Jeannie White Duke is a graduate of Middlesex High School.

Jeannie White Duke has been named principal of Middlesex Elementary School (MES) effective July 1.

The Middlesex County School Board made the announcement at a special meeting on June 10.

White, the current assistant principal at MES, will replace longtime MES principal Joannie Banks, who will retire at the end of the school year.

“Mrs. Duke was the consensus top choice during the panel portion of the interview process and performed admirably during the second round of interviews as well,” said county school superintendent Rusty Fairheart. “I am excited about the opportunity to work with her in her new role.  I am confident she possesses the knowledge and leadership skills necessary to enhance our educational programming at Middlesex Elementary School.”

Prior to being hired in August of 2008 as assistant principal of MES, Duke was a elementary school teacher for 18 years.

She grew up in Middlesex, attended county public schools, and is a graduate of Middlesex High School.
